Asus Joins The Dual Camera Club With Zenfone 4

Believe it or not this is the second “Zenfone 4” Asus has released to date (not counting the zenfone 4 variants released this year), the previous one released back in 2014.

The company is going all in with the dual-camera trend instead of the bezel-less trend it seems.

Price for the Zenfone 4 starts at $400, Asus did not specify whether it was for the upper end or the lower end model.

Design and Display

The design of the ZenFone 4 features a metal finish on the back, along with a curved 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on the front. The display comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD, which is brighter than the AMOLED on the Pro version of the phone.

Internals and Storage

You get a choice of an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 or 660 underneath, with 4 or 6 GB RAM, as well as 64 GB expandable storage. It makes for quite a respectable combination in a mid-range phone. Zenfone 4 is dual-SIM by default and features Android 7.0 Nougat for the OS.

At the back is a familiar dual-camera setup, with a Sony IMX362 12 MP f/1.8 primary sensor with optical image stabilization and phase-detection autofocus, accompanied by an 8 MP OmniVision 8856 wide-angle lens. On the front is an OmniVision 8 MP wide-angle lens with f/2.0 aperture.

Battery

The battery capacity here is 3,300 mAh, with fast-charging supported. It should last you through the day easily on medium-heavy usage.
